Core Training

Teaching Day #3

Ashley and Jamie did power yoga with us, which was actually kind of hard and had me sweating.

Eliza and Courtney did stuff with the body bars, which were heavier than expected and hurt my shoulders to hold them behind my head.

Claire and Tabir did pilates with us, and we did planks for a very long time, and also alot of new things I had never seen before.

Pushup holds, lying down pull ups, burpies, and cobra stretches. 10 of each with 3 sets.

Christina & Kristina (I have no idea if that's how you spell their names)
Dancing, which was really awkward and I was really bad at it, but it got my heartrate up.

Went to the gym and ran 2 miles on the indoor track in 21:09 (last lap in 36 seconds). Then did abs and adductor/abductor.

Went to the gym and did 33 minutes on the eliptical (weight loss setting, 5 minute cool down). Then did abs.

Went to the gym and ran 2 miles on the indoor track (21 laps in 22:06, kicked up the last lap and did it in 43 seconds). Then did adductor/abductor and abs.

Core Training: Teaching Day 1

Anthony & I
We did circuits with situps, side planks with leg lifts, bridges with leg lifts, bicycle with arms in the air, and toe touches with bringing your arms down.

Devin & Andrew
Pilates from the 80's workout. We did a lot of arm movements and kept our heartrates up. I learned some things I had never thought of doing before.

Garrett & Scott
Running drills. We did butt-kicks, high-knees, grapevines, jump for height, running backwards, soldier kicks, and sumo squat things. I haven't done those kinds of drills in a while so it loosened up some muscles.

Worked with our partners to practice things for our teaching days, and then did some of the stuff out of the packets using the stretchy bands and medicine balls.

Went for a run outside today since it was so nice and did 1.76 miles in 16:22. Left pad under big toe hurt, and chest felt kind of tight.

Core Training

Did partner workouts today. Used the stretchy bands and did sets of 25 or so, and then used the medicine ball and did sets of 20. Right upper quad area bothering me quite a bit.

Did partner things with the medicine ball like throwing, throwing sideways, shuffling, twists with backs to each other, and situps (also using the yoga ball) with maybe 25 each. Left hip flexor kind of hurt.

Went to the gym and ran 2 miles on the indoor track (21 laps) in 21:30 (59 seconds faster than Friday). Then did abs, adductor/abductor, and various arm and leg machines.

Went to the gym and did 2 miles on the track (21 laps) in 22:29. Left knee kind of hurt, but not too bad. Then did abs, adductor/abductor, and weights. Felt pretty good today considering I haven't been doing much at the gym for the last week.

Core Training

Used the medicine balls today. Did squats with pushing out and up (10 each) and threw them down on the ground to a partner (20 times each). Also did RussianTwists with it and a partner where we switched off after 5 for each side and did that for 1 minute 5 times. Left hip flexor kind of hurt after that, but it seems to be okay now.

Core Training

Worked with the stretchy bands today. Did a lot of arm exercises including (with a partner) holding two bands between us and pulling back 10 times, and standing side-by-side and holding a band withour outside hands and pulling out 10 times (3sets). Tried some Russian Twists with the bands, but that worked my arms way more than it did my abs. We did our pushup series with 11 pushups, and I think that may be more than we can handle right now. I was falling apart around 9.
